Laundry 101

Six Habits of
Fresh People.

TIP 01

Sort Smarter

Whites, darks, and towels each wash best alone — towels shed lint that clings to everything else.

TIP 02

Cold Is Gold

Cold water protects color and fabric on most loads — save hot water for towels, bedding, and true whites.

TIP 03

Don't Overstuff

Clothes need room to move. A drum packed past three-quarters washes poorly and wears fabric faster.

TIP 04

Zip & Flip

Zip zippers, unbutton buttons, and turn prints inside out — small habits that double a garment's life.

TIP 05

Dry Less

Over-drying is the #1 fabric killer. Pull items while barely damp and let the last moisture air out.

TIP 06

Read the Label

Those little symbols are a cheat sheet: one dot = low heat, a hand = hand-wash, a crossed circle = no dry clean.

Stain Guide

First Aid
for Fabric.

Act in the first five minutes and almost anything comes out. Here's the play for each classic.

Coffee

Do:Rinse with cold water fast, then dab liquid detergent before washing warm.

Avoid:Hot water first — it sets the tannins.

Red wine

Do:Blot, cover with salt to lift, rinse cold, treat, wash.

Avoid:Rubbing — it pushes wine deeper into fibres.

Grease & oil

Do:Dish soap on the spot, work in gently, wash at the warmest safe temp.

Avoid:Water alone — oil repels it and spreads.

Grass

Do:Pre-treat with detergent or diluted vinegar, brush lightly, wash warm.

Avoid:Ammonia-based cleaners — they can set the green.

Ink

Do:Lay on a towel and dab with rubbing alcohol from the back, rinse, wash.

Avoid:Scrubbing in circles — it feathers the ink outward.

Blood

Do:Cold water immediately, gentle soap, repeat until clear, then wash cold.

Avoid:Any heat until it's fully gone — heat cooks the protein.

Sweat marks

Do:Soak in vinegar and water, then treat with detergent and wash warm.

Avoid:Chlorine bleach — it reacts and yellows the stain.

Chocolate

Do:Scrape solids off first, cold rinse from the back, treat, wash warm.

Avoid:Wiping while melted — it smears into the weave.
